My editor Myra did due diligence and checked with the company that owns the rights to Farkle to publish the rules. They responded quickly with a yes you can use the instructions. So that is what ended up in the book. However while the mechanics of playing are how I learned it, the scoring is different than what I learned and have taught all over the world. Here are the differences in scoring. There is no bonus for two sets of three ( but I kind of like that difference) Any 3 pairs of dice 500 points ( not 1500 , which reflects the frequency of that roll better compared to 1,2,3,4,5,6 which is 1500 in both rules. ) 4 of a kind is 2 times whatever 3 of a kind is for that number. I.e. 4 threes rolled simultaneously would be 600 points Five of the same number would be 4 times the value of 3 I.e. 5 threes would be 1200 and the very rare 6 threes rolled all at the same time would be 8 times or 2400. I have played 100s of games over the years. Only once did someone roll six of a kind. She rolled it in 2s so it was only worth 1600.
